Posture Correction Could Save The UK £Billions, But How Many?
Posted by admin on Dec 7, 2008
Posture correction is something that most people would probably agree is important, but just how much of a big deal is it? To demonstrate the scale of back pain newspapers normally quote loss of earning stats. For example, thepress.co.uk recently wrote:-
“In the UK, it is estimated that five million working days are lost every year as a result of back pain, which costs the NHS more than £1 billion a year to treat.”
That sounds fair enough, but in an article by GMTV they wrote:-
“The crippling results lead to 105 million days off sick a year, at a cost of over £8.3 billion to the economy and a more concerning overall cost to the nation’s future health.” Full article:-

That’s quite a large discrepancy, but I have a feeling that the latter numbers are more spot on.
Whichever way you look at it, correcting posture ought to be a top priority throughout western nations from both a health and economic perspective.
